London Fashion Week SS18 is Almost Here!

Well, I’m back from another vacation and straight into London Fashion Week prep.  After another disappointing and mediocre New York Fashion Week I’m looking to London and the On and Off schedule shows to lift the fashion conversation and give some awesome SS18 style inspiration.  The street style at Fashion Week in London is second only to the street style in Paris and although it can get a little weird and far fetched, if you look to the genuine street stylers rather than the wannabes you can find some awesome inspiration for creating your own looks.

After taking a vacation so close to show season, I gotta admit Voyeurs that my brain does not want to process the complexity of the LFW show schedule.  From On Schedule shows, to Fashion Scout and Fashion International, the show schedule for the SS18 season is insane and it’s my biggest and most jam packed yet.  With Press Passes still coming in, I’m up to 32 confirmed shows so far from some amazing established designers and some New Gen talent too.

WHEN DOES LFW START?

LFW’s SS18 season showcase opens on Friday September 15th 2017 and runs through to Tuesday 19th before we move on to Milan.  That’s five full days of fashion and backstage beauty and this season there are more shows than ever before with the incorporation of Fashion International into the schedule.

WHAT LOOKS GOOD?

No question here, Joshua Kane’s Fantasy for SS18 has got to be up there with the most hotly anticipated shows of the season.  His choice to show at the London Palladium fits his brand of gothic tailoring to a tee.  Kane shows on the opening day too so he has a killer slot on the bill for what’s sure to be an awesome show, I can’t wait to see his take on women’s tailoring.

Hellavagirl.  Designer Helen Woollams always brings scary, monstrous and beautiful couture to Fashion Scout; think of all those gorgeously gothic American Horror Story trailers or Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance video and you’re on the right track.  It’s always one that has the crowd whispering in admiration as soon as the first look hits the runway.  Plus I get Frow at this show so I get some amazing up close pictures and you know what they say, the devil’s in the details.  Take a look at the FW17 Hellavagirl show here.

Jayne Pierson always puts together a stunning show, packed full of beautiful looks and she always chooses a venue that’s miles away from every other show in my schedule so I’m usually flustered and out of breath as I take my seat.  This year she’s showing at Conde Nast Vogue House so it’s pretty central but I’ll still be dashing there from Scout.  Note to self, wear cool sneaks.

WHAT ABOUT THE BEAUTY?

Don’t you worry about that Voyeurs, I work alongside AOFM who provide full backstage access to shows on their schedule.  This means that I have Access All Areas at 16 big name shows to bring you beauty reports on those hot SS18 makeup looks and maybe even a little live coverage this year too if it’s permitted.

NOT GOT AN INVITE?

Shows on the main LFW showcase, both on and off schedule are strictly invite only.  Seats are reserved for celebrities, Brand Ambassadors, buyers, press and Influencers meaning that you can’t just walk up off the street and get yourself a seat on the frow.  However, the highstreet comes alive during LFW and there are often fringe events running all over London that you can get involved with.  Topshop at Oxford Circus live streams their Unique show to the store windows, makeup stores run popups where you can drop in for a touch up, and there are various fashion exhibitions that run alongside the event.  The V&A is showcasing a Balenciaga retrospective right now and tickets are just £12.

Of course if you really want a piece of the runway action, a lot of the headline shows are available to livestream or watch back after the show has taken place.

WHAT ABOUT LFWEND?

Come on seriously?! LFWEND is no more.  It’s been replaced by the LFW Festival which takes place on the weekend straight after LFW, for the SS18 season LFW Festival will be Sept 21-24 and tickets are priced from £20 to £200.  The schedule includes highstreet fashion runway shows from all your favourite highstreet brands as well as fashion talks with industry experts and shopping suites where you can buy limited edition pieces produces specifically for LFW Festival.

Clued up?  Good.  You’ve got 48 hours to prep your schedule.  I’ll see you from the frow..
